Greens are good for you!

April 1, 2020 By Diane Guillory

Greens have many benefits and are the most important food in your diet and the most left out.

Leafy green vegetables are an important part of a healthy diet and nutrition. They’re packed with vitamins, minerals and fiber but low in calories. Eating a diet rich in leafy greens can offer numerous health benefits including reduced risk of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure and mental decline.

It’s so easy being green! And it’s so easy to enjoy lots of healthy and delicious leafy greens in our meals. Leafy greens are super-healthy, packed with A, B, C, E and K, minerals like magnesium, iron and calcium, and a bunch of flavonoids and phytochemicals. Greens benefit our health in so many ways including strengthening our immune system, cancer prevention, lowering cholesterol, and improved blood circulation.

The healthiest greens to include in your diet are:

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Cabbage
  • Watercress
  • Romain Lettuce
  • Argula
  • Chard

If you are always on-the-go, here are a few quick ways to include greens in your diet:

One of the easiest ways to get your chlorophyll on-the-go is by buying powdered greens and put them in your shake.

Kale chips are the best alternative to potato chips and other unhealthy snacks. You can bake them or buy them from the store. Once you start eating them, you won’t be able to stop.

Organic salads are easily prepared now from the store in prepackaged. Just put in a bowl and add your favorite toppings.

Frozen greens are another great way to quickly steam or put in your smoothie.
